So you've read House of Leaves, right? That damn book gave me insomnia for almost a week. I am very serious about that i was living on my own for the first time in an old house and every time i was alone there i was in a constant state of terror, even during the day. Not being able to sleep for fear is bad enough but add to it the effects of serious fatigue and you have all sorts of problems. Anyway, with that horrible (but fantastic) book in mind, i offer you this.

I think this is cool. On stillfree.com you can download a video of Marc Ecko (who?) tagging one of the engines of Air Force One. Obviously the video is a fake but it is well done and good to watch/think about - like that one Superman film where S-man punches Nixon in the face. And if you want more, check out this guy. I'm not sure if he is to be praised, or the cop condemned. Gives one hope, though.

From today's Age:
"Veteran rocker Neil Young has recorded a protest album featuring an anti-Iraq war track with "a holy vow to never kill again" and a song titled Let's Impeach the President, the singer says.
...the song accuses President George W Bush of "lying" and features a rap with Bush's voice set against a choir singing "flip-flop"."
Umm...flip-floping? I thought we were supposed to be going after Satan on the wings of a dove. Stop rolling! (Let's Roll by Neil Young, 2001)

Here’s the scoop. Matches almost defiantly came first. It seems that the Chinese had something similar to a match in the latter part of the 6th century, but that doesn't count. The first modern match came about around the start of the 19th century (1805 one place tells me). A lighter date is harder to pin down. Zippos appeared in the early 1930s but they were invented in response to dissatisfaction with normal lighters so it's definitely pre-1930. Apparently a patent was handed out in 1910 for an ignition system that sounds similar to the one on today's lighters... What I have found is that there are a lot of people out there who contend that lighters were around before matches. Perhaps Mike Skinner is one of these? Regardless of his thoughts on the matter, there is nothing to suggest he wrote a song about it. Are you there Mike? Let us know how you feel.
